WANT TO KEEP THE PASSION FOR TEAMWORK ALIVE IN YOUR BUSINESS? GET CURIOUS!

Curiosity is a “strong desire to know or learn something” (Oxford Languages). How does CURIOSITY benefit your working relationships? Let’s explore how this mindset and practical application get you more of what you want!

One of my favorite videos to show how curiosity plays an important role in our lives is “Above the Line or Below the Line” by Conscious Leadership. The video argues that great leaders live “above the line” in a world of curiosity, while others live “below the line” in a world of defensiveness. Since the one thing we can depend on is change, knowing how to navigate it is critical. CURIOSITY is a TOOL to help you handle challenging situations, relationships, and achievements.  Curiosity can lead us to learn more about ourselves and each other as well as to glean lessons from any situation.  As we seek the truth and listen to understand, we will make better-informed decisions and find rewards we had not expected.

CURIOSITY AND TEAMWORK

Let’s focus on how this applies to Agents and Admin team members:

Teamwork is defined as a “collaborative effort of a group to achieve a common goal or to complete a task in the most effective and efficient way”. (Wikipedia)

A TEAM is a group of interdependent individuals who work together towards a common goal.

INTERDEPENDENT means we EACH have a role to play and EACH of us needs to keep growing continuously to feed the momentum of the business.

As with any relationship, it requires nurturing to both survive and thrive.

ASK QUESTIONS

Asking questions with curiosity as your motive and being of service as your intention, you will build strong and flexible relationships. These suggestions are for leaders – BOTH agents who are now business owners and admins who are now running their operations.

One of my favorite resources for asking questions is the book The Coaching Habit – Say Less, Ask More & Change the Way You Lead Forever by Michael Bungay Stanier. He teaches us 7 questions we can use in all kinds of situations.

Questions from The Coaching Habit:

  1. What’s on your mind?
  2. And what else?
  3. What’s the real challenge here for you?
  4. What do you want?
  5. How can I help?
  6. If you’re saying Yes to this, what are you saying No to?
  7. What was most useful for you?

SEEK THE TRUTH

You can utilize this approach and technique to find ways to help each other and learn from every situation to keep improving your working relationship and innovating how the business can be of service to other

As you seek the truth, know yourself, and listen to understand, you will be better equipped to achieve the results you wish to achieve. Remember, “what you focus on expands”. Curiosity is part of your secret sauce!
