CAN BEING CURIOUS MAKE YOU A BETTER REAL ESTATE ASSISTANT?

Did curiosity really kill the cat? Not in our book. (We love cats.*) At Kammbium, we believe that curiosity is one of your biggest assets as a real estate assistant. Not only will it give you the opportunity to leverage your skill set and stay inspired, but you’ll also be able to prove your value to your boss and your team.

Look for New Opportunities

Your boss hired you because you’re good at what you do.  So how can you use your knowledge and talent to find opportunities to increase revenue or improve workflow? Sometimes, it takes a fresh set of eyes (yes, your eyes!) to discover small changes that can make a big impact.

For example, one Operations Manager saved her company over $10,000 per year by moving their monthly expenses to a credit card that gave 2% back. Because her company offered a profit share plan, both she and her employer benefitted. When you’re curious, you’ll see opportunities and be able to snatch them up.

Ask Open-Ended Questions

If you’re curious about an element of your job or something unfamiliar in the real estate world, ask open-ended questions! Instead of saying, “Is this how we do XYZ?” ask, “How do we do XYZ, and why do we do it like this?” By digging deeper into the hows and whys of internal operations, you’ll start to better understand the structure of your real estate team. Not only that, but you’ll also be sharpening your skills!

Think of it this way: every time you amass new knowledge, you can use it to become more proficient at your job.

Find Ways to Build New Systems

Is there a system in your workplace that’s inefficient, but it hasn’t been updated because “that’s always how it has been done”? If so, then this is your opportunity to use your curiosity to make a positive change. How can you build systems that benefit your office? Are new tools or resources available that could help you work smarter? Use your unique perspective to create something that’s a game-changer for your team.

If you’d like to learn more about how you can use your curiosity to jump-start your career, schedule a free clarity call with Kammbium. We’ll help you identify what makes you unique and talented, and how you can use it to excel at your role.
