Choose Joy: How to Use Positivity to Accelerate Your Real Estate Career

Did you know that choosing joy could help you take your career to the next level? If you want to be the best admin you can be, then it’s important to show up armed with positivity.

Embrace Mistakes

Having a career in real estate is exciting, unpredictable, and challenging. Every day is different than the last, and you’re often forced to learn on the fly.

Mistakes happen – but depending on the size or the severity of the mistake, it can sometimes feel like the sky is falling. Negative thoughts swirl through our minds and we find ourselves lamenting, “If only I had done something differently!”

If there’s one thing we have in common, it’s that we all make mistakes. We are human!

The next time you fumble something at work, give yourself a little grace. Instead of beating yourself up for doing something wrong, look at it as an opportunity to learn, grow and become better at your job! If you’re making mistakes, that means that you’re trying new things and challenging yourself. You should be proud that you’re growing as a human and working towards a brighter future.

Welcome Criticism

When someone criticizes us, we can often feel defensive, overwhelmed, or insulted – even if the criticizer didn’t mean it that way. If you’ve spent a lot of time and effort on a project at work, it can be hard when someone says, “I don’t like it,” or “You need to start over.” So how do we keep our feelings from getting hurt?

Being able to properly receive criticism is a learned skill, and doing so requires that we react with logic, not emotion. When you find yourself facing criticism, take a deep breath and look at it objectively. Everyone sees things differently; maybe your vision wasn’t the same as your boss or your coworker. Find ways to incorporate their critique while still staying true to yourself. Chances are that combining forces will make the result even better!

Press the Reset Button

Have you noticed yourself carrying baggage from one day into the next? Maybe you can’t shake off a mistake you made, or stop thinking about a challenging conversation that you had?

Instead of hanging onto feelings that no longer serve you, give yourself the opportunity to start over. When you crawl into bed at night, imagine that you’re pressing the reset button as your head hits the pillow. Tomorrow is a new day filled with potential and possibility, and dwelling on the past will only hold you back.
